Nonpublic personal information is the nonpublic portion of personally identifiable information about you that we collect in association with financial services or products that you have with our bank.

THE INFORMATION THAT WE COLLECT

We collect, retain and utilize only necessary information about you for lawful business purposes. Your information is obtained either directly from you or from other sources necessary during the course of our business relationship. We collect information from the following sources:

  • Information we receive from you on applications or other forms
  • Information about your transactions with us
  • Information about your transactions with nonaffiliated third parties
  • Information from a consumer reporting agency

SHARING OF INFORMATION

Your relationship with us is important; therefore, we will not disclose your nonpublic personal information to nonaffiliated third parties except for the following:

  • The information is provided to help complete a customer initiated transaction
  • The customer requests or permits it
  • The information is required by or allowed by law
  • In accordance with the Fair Credit Reporting Act, we share information with reputable information reporting agencies
  • The information is necessary to the companies that provide support services for us such as imprinting checks or providing marketing assistance
  • On occasion, we sell a particular line of business or function (for example, mortgage servicing rights). Classically, a core part of that business is its customer database. The North Side Bank & Trust Company reserves the right, in such conditions, to transfer ownership of the related customer database to the purchaser.

We ensure the privacy of your information disclosed to our service providers by contractual agreements or privacy statements limiting them to using the information only for services provided to us.

  • All bank employees are aware of their responsibility to respect and protect your confidential information. Customer information is accessible only to employees who require it to provide products, services or support.
  • We ensure all bank employees are bound by our code of conduct governing the use of customer information and that they are subject to disciplinary action if they fail to do so.
  • We uphold physical, electronic and procedural safeguards to protect customer information.
  • Our operations and data processing are in a secure environment that guards customer information from being accessed by outside sources.

INTERNET

Any time you enter a transaction or provide personal information (such as an account number or password) in our customer information areas, we encrypt it using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) technology. SSL protects information as it crosses the Internet. You can tell if you are visiting a secure area within a Web site by looking at the symbol on the bottom of your browser screen. If you are using Netscape Navigator or Internet Explorer, you will see either a lock or a key. When the symbol appears unbroken or the padlock is in the locked position, your session connection is taking place via a secure server.

  • Cookies. When you interact with our Bank E-Z Internet Banking sites, we strive to make that experience simple and convenient. When you come to our Bank E-Z site, our Internet server sends a cookie to your computer. A cookie is simply an electronically transmitted file that holds small pieces of information. When you navigate through Bank E-Z, your browser "requests" pages for you to view, and that request will include the information stored in the cookie we previously sent to your computer. This process is like an electronic "handshake" between our system and your computer; the information exchanged allows us to recognize your browser.
  • Cookies, as well as data taken from them, do not identify you personally. They merely recognize your browser. Unless you choose to identify yourself to us, either by responding to a promotional offer, opening an account, or registering for an online service, you remain anonymous to us.
  • "Session Cookies": Session cookies exist only during an online session with North Side Bank. Session cookies allow you to conduct transactions or requests through Bank E-Z. An example is a request to see your account balance. Without the session cookie information, we would not be able to complete your Bank E-Z transactions securely. Session cookies help us make sure you are who you say you are after you have logged in. We do not sell this or any other information about you to other Web sites, merchants or financial institutions.
  • Bank E-Z Message System and Contact-Us from our Web Page. These means of communication are an important channel between you and us. We encrypt all information shared between these channels.
